What is in my big question for me?

What is in it for me you ask? I guess you can say it is for me basically, I want to know why and this is going to help me figure it out instead of just thinking about what it could be. It will defiantly scratch the itch, I want to know the statics, I want to know what is happening in the world. I want to know why I don't know.

Meet Nick

Nick is from the East, in a middle-western city. Nick's father carries the hardware store as it is got passed down from his Grandfather. Nick graduated in 1915, assuming it was highschool he was likely born in the 1890's. He decided to go east to get away from the once warm city.

Behind the Ignite talks

Two big questions and two different people

how you came up with the idea

Citlalli: How is a student’s home environment correlated with success in school?

Breakdown: Some people don't have the best enivroment, people with bad homes work hard but do people that have everything do they work as hard because they already have things they need. She and her cousin have similar lives but he never does his work bc there isn't any, what he claims. he always has bad grades and she wants to know why they have the similar lives.

Tanya: Why does the brain work the way it does; can it work more effectively to make us happy?

Breakdown: Basically, I kinda changed it, why do sad people stay sad? I am just trying to figure out. Why do we feel sad and where does it come from but why?

Dark Patterns

I liked reading about the different problems, I liked the roach motel one because I know that I had many subscriptions and they have never messed really messed me up but I know that they can. So I usually set a reminder a day or two before it is up and cancels. Price Comparison Prevention is also interesting, I saw this post one day that there were all these sales and then they lifted the sale sign and it was the same price. I was kind of shocked that they didn't at least hide that but it is like how much do we really know.

I'm Ignited

I liked these big questions:

1. How does tape work? I like that this one got me like for real, I hate when tape sticks to the paper.

2. Why are we so pressured in highschool? I am freaking out right now about colleges/universities and I don't know what I am going to do. I have been receiving letters and I am starting to work on my brag sheet. I just hope that I can figure it out.

3. Is supernatural real? This is interesting because I like watching movies about supernatural things. I love watching them because of the scares but then I think what if it was real. I would freak the heck out because that stuff is scary and to think that it is real is freaky.

My big question is, Why are abused men not heard as often?

30 seconds

Why are abused men not heard often? Did you know that every 37.8 seconds a man is physically abused by his partner? And that 48% of men are emotional or psychological abuse. I am here to talk about the abuses of men and why they don't step up or aren't heard of. Be Stay aware, because every 1 out of 10 men is a victim of rape, stalking, and/or are physically abused?

Hopepunk

The word hopepunk is something that you really care about that requires you to be brave. Keep fighting no matter what is what I got from another site. Standing up and fighting for what you believe in. In my opinion, I think that they are using this word to show strength. Having hope and punk, basically being optimistic and fight for it. Very interesting word, some can really use this It is like Superman his symbol stands for hope and he is fighting to protect metropolis because he cares for it. Fighting, caring and being brave, sounds like an example of hopepunk.

Last century's writing styles

Genre is a made-up thing
Naturalism movement of fiction, exaggerated
Realism- keeping it real not making it seem better,  realistic
Modernism- during after ww1, starting breaking rules people used their imagination
Liminal- not quite who we used to be but not quite who we are going to be

Argue this

Syllogism- the simplest form of logical argument
Logic no faith
Deductive-going from a general idea to a specific reason
Restate your question
Gender stereotypes
Try not being direct and opinions
Why are guys always the bad guy in relationships
Why are men often portrayed as an evil partner, better option

Down the rabbit hole

just because Obama was our president doesn't mean there isn't racism anymore
putting the date of his birth is perspective
transcendent is going above and beyond
good is when you can compare it to something
one thing drives the store- conflict
don't want to hear a boring and repetitive story

---------------------

I checked out the favorite books of 2019. I thought it would be interesting over the others because it is a hard thing to do. Picking out your favorite books so I wanted to see what she liked.

Notes from today's lecture

I was absent. :(

Pathos is when the speaker can connect with the audience
Logos is the logical reasoning

Luther used metaphors
The theme was the idea that our history of society is based on we could be equal and all these documents say we should have equality but we don't practice it

My word Cloud

1. I read the blog post and consider who to write 10 emails too.
2. I found my 10 people and asked if I could write to them then emailed them. I asked what they thought my most successful time was.
3. As I waited to get a response I made a document for the responses and opened a tab for the word cloud.
4. I started to open up responses and sent some responses to others as well.
5. Attached all the email to the document and then went to the word cloud to start my work.
6. I opened up my blog and I started to write.

I noticed that the overall message that my peers have made for me is that:
- I'm a determined person.
- I am good at completing my work and am good at interviews.

I will continue to update
furthermore, once I get
more email responses.

Today I interview an Expert

Today we Skyped an author named Cory Doctorow.

As I listened, I noticed that he seemed that he was very highly educated. I liked that you asked a simple question but he was able to answer with so many details to the story. His tone was nice and he made the class laugh a lot which is a nice environment to be in. He is also up to date with slang. He seemed to be educated in all areas, from wrestling to the internet. Some of the things were a little confusing. I like that he explains certain things to before he moves on, it was nice to actually understand what he meant.
